About the reviewer
Pemba walked the Syabrubesi to Kyanjin Gompa route as a working guide for nine seasons before joining the PB Nepal review desk. He kept the kitchen notes behind this teahouse log: eleven lodges, two trekking seasons, and a running record of what arrived on the plate, how long it took, and which family kitchens kept a fire going past midnight. He now splits his time between gear repair work in Kathmandu and writing route notes for trekkers arriving from South Africa and Europe.
His focus on this page is food planning above 3,500 metres: dal bhat consistency, garlic soup as a mild altitude aid, and how smaller Langtang kitchens handle dietary requests when the supply truck is late.
